Tasty Little Millet Kesari Bhath to accompany Upma to make Chow-Chow Bhath – the pineapple adds a twist to the recipe.

About Little Millet

Little Millet is high in healthy fats in addition to all the general millet characteristics (gluten-free, low glycemic index, high fibre, etc). It also has the smallest grains, so cooks faster than the other millets.

Little Millet is also called Same (in Kannada), Samai (in Tamil), Samalu (in Telugu) and Kutki (in Hindi)

Instructions
  1. Heat Ghee in a pan (low flame). Add the Cloves. Fry Cloves for couple of minutes in Ghee and let it release all its flavours. Add Little Millet Rava and roast in low flame. Continuously stir the rava to ensure it does not get burnt. Roast for about 10 minutes. Add Cashew nuts and raisins and roast for a minute. Add boiling water to this mixture. Add sugar, pineapple pieces and Saffron. Stir well. Close the lid and cook in low flame for about 10 minutes. Open the lid and stir the Kesari till the desired consistency is reached.
  2. Serve hot. In the picture, it is served alongside Little Millet Rava Upma.
Recipe Notes

Try variations:  Use Vanilla instead of Clove or Cardamom.

I have seen Kesari Bhath recipes where the rava is not roasted.  Alternatively, you can try that too.
